Hi all! In what is usually a slower time of year with the holidays and tax time approaching, KILMERHANSEN has been pleasantly busy. With three web projects already in various stages of our design process and a fourth project’s work agreement just in the door, 2012 is already starting as our best year yet. 2011 and now 2012 are showing us a more diverse set of businesses as well. Our web design clients range from photographers, foundations, and health associations to financial advisers and lawyers.

2011 also gained us three website maintenance projects, welcome tasks to fill the hours between major design work. We are excited to continue to offer this service to individuals and businesses who need small changes made but don’t have the time or knowledge to complete them.

Better and Faster

Good news for October! KILMERHANSEN has added two new creative minds to our team. Kevin Looney is a long time friend and fellow designer with wonderful illustrative talent. Jeff Will has been imagining one of a kind photographic pieces for years. With their input and expertise, KILMERHANSEN looks to be bigger and better this winter and into 2012. We are also faster! We’ve changed web hosts and we can already see a difference in loading time for our site. We aren’t naming names but boy are we happy to have switched.

Keep your eyes on us for more great stuff in the months to come.

Grays Harbor Roller Derby Logo

Grays Harbor Roller Derby has been newly founded and approached KILMERHANSEN about a logo to represent themselves. Based in a logging town, the woman wanted elements that reflected tools of the trade like axes and saw blades. They also needed to identify themselves as derby girls with either rollerskates or helmets. Through several revisions (one included a Lumber Jill!) the Grays Harbor Roller Derby logo was born. Sweet but tough, they are sure to make their mark (and maybe leave some marks!) in the derby world. Good luck ladies!!!

Bella Vista Photography Logo

Bella Vista Photography specializes in real estate, architectural, and design-related photography. A line art, brush stroke combination of a camera and a home was created to show exactly what this company provides. A logo that can stand alone without text if needed and still capture the essence of the company.

Cool Green Cabin Logo

Cool Green Cabin is a Seattle-based design company focusing on architecture and consulting. We were hired to design a logo and business card for the owner. He runs his office out of a small green and yellow caboose, the inspiration for the logo.

Shift Massage Logo

Sometimes a dramatic and fun design change is on order! This was the case for Shift Massage, a craniosacral and massage therapy company run by Kathy J. Rose. Her motto “Where Head Meets Heart” got a literal translation with the design of her new logo.

Japanese “kawaii-style” characters represent her fun and happy nature and break away from the traditional look of businesses in the massage industry. Shift Massage is truly a welcoming and relaxing massage location in South Lake Union.

The logo has already found a new home on redesigned business cards. Up next? A new website!

World Excavating Website Completed

The World Excavating owners were looking to take their business to the web with a new site that reflected the roots of the company and their commitment to seeing their customer’s wishes come true for the transformation of their land.

The site is a basic five-page with contact form, gallery and social media integration (Facebook Feed dropdown).

Basketball Supply Website Completed

Leading

Leading (it rhymes with ‘heading’) the robot was born during a business card redesign. He is made from discards of the design process: logo ideas that weren’t quite ‘there’ yet, colors that were forbade usage, fonts that didn’t fit, code that didn’t cut it, and at least one full sketchpad worth of paper.

Because he is made of refuse, he is always looking for new things to replace his failing parts. Just as the world of technology and design is always changing, so is Leading.

His never-ending search for better parts serves as inspiration for the KILMERHANSEN team. We know a lot about design but that never keeps us from looking for the right piece of new knowledge that will make your project perfect for you.
